I study conversations between Japanese and American parents and children through the lenses of sociolinguistics, English linguistics, contrastive linguistics, and language socialization.
My research focuses on why children’s speech and values change based on their environment and culture, and how adult-child communication varies across cultures.

I’m also navigating the challenges of raising my own preschooler!
